More Puzzles

And here is yet another video for your viewing pleasure. Josh picked up a new video cameras for our joint early birthday presents...hehe...so in the future, the videos you see will be a much better quality! YAY!

Can you say Boob!

This video speaks for itself:

HI HI HI!

One of Claire's favorite words is HI! She says it when the phone or doorbell rings or when she wants me to turn on one of her electronic toys that she can't do yet. What does a pelican say anyway? What do zebras or giraffes say? I've been wondering these things lately :) LOL!

Must-See TV

Ok, you have to click on this link, and watch ESPECIALLY the Mr. Rogers clip of nursing on public television.

http://www.phdinparenting.com/2009/02/07/breastfeeding-on-childrens-television/

I thought it was interesting that they only showed ONE mom bottle-feeding. Nowadays, it would probably be the reverse. What did you think of the videos clips?

Our little Mockingbird!

Here is Claire repeating some words that I say. She does a pretty good job. FileHurricane recently updated the video players. (Boo to YouTube!) FH is so fast...I love it! Oh, and a hint for people like my mom who load the whole blog page at once. It will load much faster if you just click on one post at a time. So for this post, for example, on the side, you would just click on the title "Our little Mockingbird!" And then it will load MUCH FASTER. Then you can click the previous or next post at the bottom of this post or on the sidebar! Yay for faster loading when there are lots of videos! :)

Playdate with Christopher!

We had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day recently. Ok, actually, it wasn't so bad. It could have been much, much worse. And actually, it's kind of a funny story! :) We had our neighbors Christopher and Diane over to play. While they were here, Claire's diaper broke open at the seam. There was a trail of the gel-absorbing stuff where they were playing. So Diane helped me take a picture as I filled the tub to give Claire a bath. I wanted to make sure that there was no gel stuff on her skin. I know that this is why some people use cloth! And while we were doing that, Christopher jumped head first into the tub of running water completely dressed. It was pretty funny because then he and Claire took a bath together. Then he wore home Claire's orange CareBear outfit. Hey, it was the only non-pink/purple/floral thing in his size! What a funny story though!

Here they are playing in the car. I think Claire sneezed right as I was taking this!

Close-up of Christopher!

Claire loves playing with other little kids!

What's new?

What's new lately? Claire is 18.5 months and now can:

  • drink out of a straw (juice box kind and regular kind).
  • drink out of a regular cup with minor assistance.
  • chew Flintstone vitamins on her own!
  • force herself to cough so hard, she vomits if I give her iron drops :(
  • repeat an amazing amount of words!
  • "babble" in sign as we watch signing time DVDs from the library!
  • look forward to story time at the library and knows right where the toys and puzzles are!
  • eat fairly neatly off of Mom or Dad's plate while sitting on our laps.
  • say all sorts of words like "Oh, Cool, Happy, Clock!"
  • stand on one foot!
  • push herself backwards in her little car.
  • climb up the stairs alternating feet while holding a big person's hands.
  • string a wooden bead on a rope with minimal help.
  • get on and off our king bed alone!
  • almost get into our tub! She can get into my parents' tub.
  • ask for drinks or snacks she wants by signing or words (loves teething biscuits, dried fruit, yogurt drops, chips (yup...chips!), Valentine hearts, ice-pops)
  • knock on the doors when she wants them opened.
  • engage in imaginative play by feeding her babies with a bowl and spoon...so cute!

Breastfeeding and Biopsies

Ok, so we all know that breastfeeding reduces the chances of breast cancer. I don't have exact numbers on hand, but basically the longer you breastfeed, the more you reduce your chances of getting breast cancer. And since there is breast cancer on BOTH sides of my family (YIKES!) I definitely plan on letting Claire self-wean...be that at 3 or 4...after that we'll have to see...anyway...we'll see where we are at at that point! Ok, so here is some more breast cancer related info for you breastfeeding mommas: http://crunchydomesticgoddess.com/2009/02/03/breastfeeding-scheduled-for-a-biopsy-read-this-and-pass-it-on/

Love and Marriage go together like a Horse and Carriage

I think I got a great shot here of Amanda and Alex running out to the carriage. I only got one shot as they were moving fast...it was cold! Brr!

They took the carriage from the Indiana State House to the Skyline Club for their reception. I managed to get some cool footage driving behind them for a bit. You can hear some cute Claire noises in the background of this video.

Enjoying a Walk!

Claire enjoyed walking around and trying to find Daddy. She also really got a kick out of tapping her shoes on the hard ground. It made a nice noise!

Alex and Amanda's Wedding Ceremony

Alex and Amanda's Wedding Ceremony: http://www.formylobster.com/default.aspx The wedding was gorgeous! It was at the Indiana State House in Downtown Indy. Look below in the photo, the wedding party was lined up for the receiving line. The pictures are in reverse.
Josh looked quite snazzy in his tux!

Amanda's dress was really pretty and had a ton of beadwork!

Josh is in the middle of the guys.

I had to get a picture of me at the Statehouse too!

Claire had a ball running around the great big open areas at the rehearsal and before the ceremony. Look at the floor in this one. You can see her reflection!

Claire enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies as well. I think the building is so pretty with all the stone! It really reminded me of being in Europe.

The ceiling was so stunning. The ceremony was directly below this stained glass.

That is Josh up there on the third floor! They were doing pictures up there.
